FAQs
How much can I expect to earn as a freelance proofreader? PDF Print E-mail

Question

How much can I expect to earn as a freelance proofreader?

Answer

There are national minimum guidelines for fees. These are:

  • Proofreading - from £19.25 per hour
  • On-screen copy-editing - from £22.50 per hour
  • Substantial editing and rewriting - from £26.00 per hour.
It should be stressed that freelance proofreaders and editors often charge lower rates to remain competitive, particularly in these difficult times.

I don't live in the UK. Can I still work as a freelance proofreader? PDF Print E-mail

Question

I don't live in the UK. Can I still work as a freelance proofreader?

Answer

Absolutely. You will be able to organise your business so that you receive proofreading projects via email, complete them on your pc, and then return the completed projects via email too. Many successful freelance proofreaders and editors work in this way for clients that are located all over the world. Location is not a problem.
